Togo Chief Judge Hails Nnamdi Kanu’s Legal Strategy, Warns of Blow to Nigeria’s Judiciary if Witnesses Fail to Appear

Chief Judge Komlan Edoh of Togo’s Supreme Court has issued a strong statement on the ongoing trial of the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, warning that Nigeria’s judicial credibility would be at stake if the witnesses Kanu listed fail to appear in court.

According to Justice Edoh, such a development would entitle Kanu to invoke his right to a referendum, in line with global judicial standards recognized by the World Court. He emphasized that the case carries far-reaching implications for Nigeria’s legal integrity and democratic image.

The Togolese jurist explained that if the witnesses appear, they will face a crucial question — whether the Nigerian government attempted to harm Nnamdi Kanu in his hometown. Should they deny the allegation, Kanu reportedly plans to present video evidence to counter their claims. However, if they admit to it, the court would be compelled by justice to grant him bail — a decision that, according to Edoh, could symbolically represent the “freedom of Biafra.”

Describing Kanu’s legal strategy as “a rare and ancient display of wisdom,” Justice Edoh said the separatist leader has positioned himself strategically within the legal system. “Nnamdi Kanu is holding Nigeria at its very point of power — one wrong move, and the entire system could tremble,” he concluded.
