Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists Honours Kwara Governor AbdulRazaq as Integrity Governor of the Year

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has been conferred with the Integrity Governor of the Year Award by the Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ) in recognition of his transparent leadership and outstanding governance.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the award was presented on Tuesday in Ilorin. NACJ President, Dr. Charles Okhai, said the honour followed a rigorous assessment involving governors from four other states, noting AbdulRazaq’s remarkable performance across key sectors including education, infrastructure, healthcare, youth empowerment, and transparency.

Okhai praised the governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare, particularly through regular promotions, prompt salary payments, and the merit-based recruitment of over 8,600 teachers to strengthen the state’s education system.

“When we nominated you, it was not on religious grounds but based on your exceptional achievements and integrity,” Okhai stated, reaffirming NACJ’s commitment to advancing national development through credible journalism.

In his acceptance speech, Governor AbdulRazaq dedicated the award to the people of Kwara State for their trust and continuous support. “This recognition reflects our modest efforts to improve the living conditions of our people and deliver tangible results,” he said.

He added that Kwara State has consistently ranked high in transparency and governance indices, including international programmes supported by the World Bank and other global partners.

“We have made tremendous progress in every sector, from roads and education to health, sports, and technology. No administration since 1999 has executed as many development projects as we have in the past six years,” AbdulRazaq affirmed.

The governor also appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his sustained support to the state government.
