The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is on the verge of registering eight additional political parties, which would increase Nigeria’s total number of registered parties to 27.

During a meeting held on Thursday, the electoral body announced that eight out of 14 pre-qualified political associations had successfully completed the submission and upload of all required information and documentation.

The successful associations include the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA), Abundance Social Party (ASP), African Alliance Party (AAP), Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Green Future Party (GFP), National Democratic Party (NDP), and Peoples Freedom Party (PFP).

INEC National Commissioner for Information, Sam Olumekan, stated that the next phase of the registration process involves a detailed assessment and verification of the submitted documents and information from each association.
