MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has reported a tax expense of N376.3 billion for the nine months ending September 30, 2025, marking a major turnaround from a tax credit of N198.7 billion recorded during the same period in 2024.

According to the company’s unaudited financial statements, the reversal in its tax position was driven by a strong rebound in profitability. Profit before tax surged to N1.13 trillion, compared with a loss of N713.6 billion in the corresponding period last year. After taxation, MTN posted a net profit of N750.2 billion, a sharp contrast to the N514.9 billion loss recorded in 2024.

Revenue grew robustly to N3.73 trillion, up from N2.37 trillion in the prior year, reflecting increased service income and operational efficiency across its core business segments. Operating profit also rose significantly to N1.44 trillion, compared with N475.3 billion a year earlier.

The telecoms giant reported finance income of N33.3 billion, while finance costs climbed to N404.2 billion. Notably, MTN recorded a foreign-exchange gain of N55.6 billion, marking a dramatic recovery from a loss of N904.9 billion in the same period of 2024.

The results highlight MTN Nigeria’s strong performance and financial resilience amid a challenging operating environment, underscoring its ability to rebound from last year’s losses and sustain growth across key revenue streams.
