The Federal High Court in Abuja witnessed a dramatic session on Friday, November 7, 2025, during the continuation of the trial of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The atmosphere in the courtroom became tense as proceedings took an unexpected twist that momentarily disrupted the session.

The drama unfolded after Kanu’s legal counsel filed a fresh motion questioning the legality of the law being applied in his prosecution. The defense argued that the charges against their client were not backed by a valid legal framework, urging the court to strike them out entirely.

Prosecuting counsel, however, opposed the motion, maintaining that the case was properly instituted and urging the court to proceed with the trial. The disagreement between both legal teams sparked intense exchanges that drew the attention of observers and journalists present in court.

Following the heated arguments, the presiding judge decided to adjourn the case until November 20, 2025, to allow time for a thorough review of the defense motion and other submissions. The adjournment extends Kanu’s detention as the legal battle continues to unfold.
