The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has completed the payment of N3.9 billion in arrears to 91,146 eligible pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme, a statement by the Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Olugbenga Ajayi, confirmed on Friday in Abuja.

The payments form part of the N32,000 increment approved by President Bola Tinubu. Ajayi provided a breakdown of the disbursement: N1.9 billion to 59,865 pensioners under the Parastatals Pension Department; N830 million to 12,976 pensioners under the Civil Service Pension Department; N620 million to 9,689 pensioners under the Police Pension Department; and N551 million to 8,616 pensioners across the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and Prisons Pension Department.

PTAD Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to settling all outstanding arrears and enhancing pensioners’ welfare as part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The directorate also announced that the implementation of the new pension increments for DBS pensioners will commence in the September 2025 payroll cycle. The increment package combines a fixed N32,000 payment with percentage increases of 10.66% and 12.95% for eligible categories, benefiting approximately 832,000 pensioners under PTAD’s management.
