NDLEA Arrests Lagos Hotelier, Seizes 1.7 Tonnes of Cannabis

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a wanted drug kingpin, Frank Chijioke Ibemesi, popularly known as Chisco Bee, after weeks of surveillance.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the 42-year-old suspect, owner of Franc CJ Ibemesi Nig. Ltd and Daisy Garden Hotel in Isolo, Lagos, was apprehended in the early hours of Saturday, November 15.

Following his arrest, NDLEA operatives led him to a warehouse in the area, where they recovered 42 jumbo bags and four cartons of “Loud” (a potent strain of cannabis) weighing 1,762.8 kilogrammes. Officers also seized foreign currency found in his possession, including $11,600, £2,000, €2,200, and 50 Canadian dollars.

In a separate operation in Osun State, NDLEA officers foiled an attempt by a drug syndicate to distribute processed skunk from the Orita-Apeje and Araromi-Okeodo forest axis in Ife South LGA. After sustained surveillance, operatives intercepted 11,135 kilogrammes of cannabis on Tuesday, November 11. Two trucks used for the operation were confiscated, and seven suspects were arrested.

Multiple other seizures were recorded nationwide:

Edo State

1,902.1kg of skunk recovered in several operations

184.1kg seized along Oza/Igbanke road

672kg recovered from Utese forest

Additional quantities intercepted along the Benin–Akure road, leading to two arrests


Ogun State

Four suspects arrested with 68kg of skunk and 3.15kg of methamphetamine on the Ijebu-Ode expressway


Taraba State

Two suspects arrested with 172kg and 84kg of cannabis


Adamawa State

396,000 capsules of tramadol intercepted at the Aliyu Mustapha International Airport, Yola


Nasarawa State

785kg of skunk evacuated from a warehouse


Lagos State

Two suspects detained in Surulere with 65.15kg of Canadian Loud

Kwara State

Beyond enforcement, the NDLEA continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, carrying out sensitisation activities in schools, religious institutions and workplaces across Zamfara, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Enugu, Lagos and Ogun States.

NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), commended the officers involved in the nationwide operations. He urged them to maintain what he described as a balanced and sustained approach to drug control, combining strong enforcement with continuous public education.
