The Kebbi State Government has slammed Senator Garba Maidoki’s recent comments on insecurity and development in the state, labeling them “baseless” and a deliberate distortion of facts.

In a statement on Sunday, Governor Nasir Idris’ Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Idris, said the senator’s remarks appeared aimed at undermining ongoing security efforts, especially following the recent abduction of students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Sakaba Local Government Area.

Issuing the statement on behalf of the government, Sadaukin Zuru dismissed Maidoki’s claim that 200 communities had been displaced by banditry, clarifying that government records show around 50 affected communities along the Wasagu–Sakaba axis have returned home thanks to coordinated security operations initiated at the governor’s request.

The statement emphasized that military deployments and field operations are centrally managed by Defence Headquarters, with the governor fully informed and providing necessary logistical support.

Highlighting its security initiatives, the administration noted it has provided over 100 Hilux vehicles, 5,000 motorcycles, and organized high-level security conferences involving traditional rulers, military officials, and academics.

On infrastructure, the government pointed out that the long-abandoned federal Koko–Zuru road is now under reconstruction, asserting that the senator is aware of the ongoing work.
