The Abia State Government has sealed a campaign office affiliated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Partners (RHP) located in Umuahia, the state capital.

The Renewed Hope Partners, a political support organisation vigorously promoted across the South East by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, is one of the President’s foremost mobilisation structures in the region.

An official of the group, who requested anonymity, disclosed to Vanguard that he arrived for work only to discover that the premises had been sealed without any prior notification from the authorities.

A notice affixed to the entrance of the property on Ojike Street and signed by the Ministry of Lands and Housing declared that the building had violated the provisions of the Abia State Tax Law (Codification and Consolidation), Law No. 7 of 2020.

The statement read:
“This property is in contravention of Sections 41 and 100 of the Abia State Tax Law… and is hereby sealed. Any individual, whether owner, occupier, neighbour or passer-by, who attempts to unseal this building shall be deemed to be in violation of the Abia State Tax Law No. 7 of 2020. Be warned. Keep off.”

Efforts to reach officials of the Ministry through the phone numbers provided on the notice proved abortive, as the lines were unavailable at the time of filing this report.
