Authorities have confirmed that the two trailers earlier stopped at the Numan Bridge—bearing registration numbers NNY 236 XA (Yobe) and GAS 330 XA (Taraba)—were transporting approximately 550 travelers.

According to eyewitnesses, profiling revealed that nearly half of the passengers were from Maradi in the Niger Republic, while the rest came from Yobe and Katsina States. The individuals reportedly could not provide any clear explanation for their mass transit, prompting heightened security concerns.

A combined team comprising operatives of the Immigration Service, Police, and Military subsequently escorted the group back to the Adamawa–Gombe boundary, directing them to return to their points of origin pending further clarification.

Authorities expressed appreciation to the Police Commissioner, the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Immigration Service for their swift and coordinated response in safeguarding the state.
