Jennifer Adighije, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), has come under public scrutiny following allegations of reckless spending and corruption within the organisation.

The claims surfaced amid ongoing efforts by government and industry stakeholders to tackle financial misconduct and strengthen transparency across Nigeria’s energy sector.

Adighije, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in August 2024, became the first woman to lead the power company. Since assuming office, her leadership has been marked by renewed emphasis on accountability, due process, and improved corporate governance.

Although the accusations cite claims of imprudent expenditure, specific details have yet to be fully disclosed to the public. In response, the NDPHC has maintained that its operations remain guided by strict adherence to regulatory standards and established financial procedures.

As investigations and clarifications continue, stakeholders within the energy industry and the public are monitoring developments closely to see how the matter unfolds and what impact it may have on ongoing reforms in the power sector.
