LAUTECH Medical and Dental Lecturers Call Off Four-Month Strike

Medical and dental lecturers at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), under the Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA), have suspended their four-month industrial action following an emergency congress meeting held on Monday.

The lecturers said the decision was taken to allow room for renewed dialogue with the university management over unresolved welfare and salary issues. While basic salary payments under the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) have been made, outstanding arrears and several allowances dating back to January 2025 are yet to be cleared.

The strike, which began on July 31, 2025, had halted academic and clinical activities within the university’s medical college, affecting teaching, training, and hospital‐based learning programmes.

NAMDA explained that academic activities would resume from December 2, 2025, as negotiations continue, adding that a monitoring framework has been set up to review progress and ensure that agreements reached with management are fully implemented.
