Several people are feared dead following a series of road accidents near the New Garriki area in Enugu. Eyewitnesses reported multiple collisions in the same area, raising concerns that the death toll could rise.

At least one of the crashes involved a cement-laden truck colliding with other vehicles, causing some of them to catch fire. Other accidents later in the day included a truck colliding with a tricycle, adding to the number of casualties.

Authorities confirmed that dozens of people were injured and transported to nearby hospitals. The state police have launched a full investigation into the causes of the crashes.

The incidents have sparked public calls for stricter road safety enforcement and better regulation of heavy vehicles on busy highways, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety and infrastructure in the region.
