President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has Submitted a New list of non-career diplomatic nominees to the Senate for approval. The list includes prominent former public officeholders such as Ibok‑Ete Ekwe Ibas, former Chief of Naval Staff; Chioma Ohakim, former First Lady of Imo State; Ita Enang, ex-senator and former presidential aide; and Abdulrahman Dambazau, former Interior Minister and Army Chief.

The names, which were not part of the earlier ambassadorial list, were presented to the Senate during plenary on Thursday. Lawmakers are expected to review and consider these nominees for the various diplomatic postings.

In his submission, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of filling these positions promptly, noting that some of the diplomatic posts are critical to Nigeria’s foreign relations.

The nominations have been referred to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which will conduct screening before reporting back to the plenary for final confirmation.
