Fresh Militia Raids Leave Communities in Ruins Across Adamawa

Several villages in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State were thrown into chaos following coordinated attacks by suspected tribal militia groups who crossed over from neighbouring Gombe State. The armed assailants stormed communities including Tingno and Waduku, setting houses ablaze and forcing residents to flee for safety. Eyewitnesses said attempts by local youth groups to stop the advance toward the LGA headquarters were unsuccessful, as the attackers overwhelmed them and completely destroyed the affected villages.

The violence reportedly followed the collapse of a recently brokered peace agreement between rival communities in the area. Just days earlier, state authorities had facilitated talks to resolve longstanding tensions, but the fragile truce quickly unraveled, leading to renewed hostilities and widespread destruction.

Security forces were promptly deployed to the area, while the state government imposed a 24-hour curfew across Lamurde Local Government to curb further escalation. Residents were ordered to remain indoors as law enforcement agencies worked to stabilize the situation and prevent the spread of violence to nearby towns.

Although exact casualty figures are yet to be confirmed, dozens of people are feared dead, with many others injured or displaced. The attacks have deepened humanitarian concerns as families remain stranded without shelter or basic supplies, while community leaders continue to appeal for urgent intervention to restore peace and ensure the safe return of affected residents.
