Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to apply the same decisive force recently used to help counter a coup attempt in the Republic of Benin to combat terrorism and insecurity within Nigeria.

In a statement released on Monday, Adeyanju commended the swift regional response that helped restore stability in Benin, describing it as a demonstration of Nigeria’s military capability and leadership in West Africa. However, he noted that the effectiveness shown abroad should be equally evident in addressing Nigeria’s own security challenges.

He stressed that ongoing attacks by terrorists and bandits across several parts of the country have continued to threaten lives, livelihoods, and national unity, calling for stronger and more coordinated military action to bring the violence under control.

Adeyanju added that protecting Nigerian citizens must remain the government’s top priority, urging the president to deploy the full strength of the nation’s security forces with the same urgency and determination used beyond its borders to ensure lasting peace at home.
