The government of Imo State has sealed off a hotel and a private mortuary in Umuhu — Ngor‑Okpala after gruesome discoveries linked to suspected criminal activity.

On December 6, 2025, a joint security and government team led by the state’s Police Commissioner, Aboki Danjuma, raided the Umuhu Autonomous Community following credible intelligence connecting the facilities to a wanted kidnapping kingpin.

The investigation was conducted with input from health and forensic officials, including the Commissioner for Health and the Chief Pathologist at the state hospital.  At the mortuary, authorities found severely decomposed and mutilated corpses stored under unsanitary conditions — prompting suspicion of illegal organ‑harvesting and other violent crimes.

As a result, both the hotel and the mortuary were sealed by government order. The suspect, Stanley Morocco Oparaugo (also known as “Morocco”), was declared wanted. Police say his residence was also searched and significant exhibits recovered.

Forensic specialists are now processing evidence from the scene. Security has been increased along the Owerri–Aba Expressway to protect motorists and residents, especially during the holiday season.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about Oparaugo’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or call the tip‑line number provided.
