The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has finalised plans to reconstruct the police stations that were destroyed during the 2020 #EndSARS protests.

Ayodeji Ogunsan, Executive Secretary of the Fund, announced the development during a weekend briefing at the LSSTF office in Alausa. He confirmed that the remaining police stations have been inspected, with reconstruction work set to begin soon.

Ogunsan, who took office in October, highlighted his commitment to enhancing accountability, expanding the Fund’s network of partners, and ensuring that contributions lead to tangible improvements in public safety. “Thanks to these partnerships, the Fund has invested in patrol vehicles, communication tools, bulletproof vests, marine assets, and personnel training to help law enforcement protect our communities,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the trust placed in him, describing his appointment as a call to service. Ogunsan emphasized the importance of innovation, collaboration, and modern, people-centered approaches to tackling security challenges.

The #EndSARS protests, which began as peaceful demonstrations against the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad over alleged brutality, escalated into violent clashes across Lagos. Several police stations, courts, and public buildings were destroyed. The upcoming reconstruction aims to fill critical security gaps left in the wake of the unrest.
