Police Chief Directs Nationwide Security Boost for Courts and Judges

The Inspector-General of Police has ordered all police commands across the country to immediately strengthen security around courts and judicial officers. The directive instructs commissioners of police and other senior officers to ensure the protection of judicial facilities and personnel remains a top priority.

Commands without functional Judges Protection Units have been told to establish them without delay, while existing units are to be fully activated to provide effective coverage. Officers are also expected to conduct regular security assessments around court premises to identify and address potential threats.

The order follows recent adjustments to police deployment nationwide, aimed at refocusing manpower on essential security duties. Authorities say the measures are designed to safeguard the independence of the judiciary and ensure that judges can carry out their responsibilities without fear or interference.
