During a recent ceremony in Ile‑Ife, where she was honoured with a chieftaincy title, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu responded to criticism over her interruption of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s speech. At the event, she reportedly told the governor to end his remarks and threatened to switch off his microphone if he continued singing.

In a statement shared afterwards, she said that critics often “scrutinise every step, amplify minor missteps, and turn them into needless controversy.”

Her remarks come amid public outcry, with many describing the episode as disrespectful to the governor and unbecoming of a First Lady.
