The Accord Party has officially adopted Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, as its candidate for the 2026 governorship election, positioning him to seek a second term under the party’s banner.
The announcement followed the conclusion of the party’s screening process, which cleared Adeleke as the sole aspirant for the ticket. He was subsequently presented with a certificate of clearance, confirming his status as Accord’s standard-bearer for the upcoming race.
Adeleke recently joined the Accord Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party, explaining that the decision came after wide consultations with political stakeholders across the state. He said the move was aimed at sustaining his development agenda and strengthening the delivery of key social programmes.
In his response to the party’s endorsement, the governor expressed appreciation to Accord leaders and members, pledging to run an inclusive campaign focused on unity, continuity, and improved governance ahead of the 2026 election.
