The All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that its 2026 governorship candidate in Osun State will be decided by affirmation rather than a competitive vote, according to Monday Okpebholo, the chairman of the party’s primary election committee.

Okpebholo made the announcement during a stakeholders meeting in Osogbo, where he urged party members to cooperate for a peaceful and orderly nomination process scheduled for Saturday, December 13.

He said the affirmation process is intended to strengthen internal party democracy and promote unity among APC members ahead of the upcoming governorship election.

The primary comes after the party elected 1,660 delegates from across the state to take part in the affirmation exercise, which Okpebholo said will be conducted transparently with proper accreditation of all delegates.

He also called on aspirants and party leaders to support the committee’s work and ensure the exercise is conducted without rancour.
