Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has publicly accused the Director-General of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, of allegedly spending $5 million meant for official purposes on his children’s education in Switzerland.

Dangote claims that the funds, which were intended for regulatory and developmental projects within the petroleum sector, were instead diverted for personal use. He described the alleged spending as a breach of public trust and called for accountability and transparency from officials managing public resources.

While Ahmed has not yet responded to the accusations, the allegation has sparked debates on social media about corruption and the management of public funds in Nigeria. Observers note that such claims, if verified, could have serious implications for public confidence in regulatory authorities overseeing the petroleum industry.
