A member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly was attacked by an angry mob in Dansadau town following accusations of poor performance and neglect of constituents’ needs. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday when residents confronted the lawmaker during a visit to the area, leading to a breakdown of order.

Witnesses said tensions had been building for weeks as community members complained about the lack of visible projects, limited engagement, and unfulfilled campaign promises. The confrontation quickly escalated as youths in the area expressed their frustration, resulting in the lawmaker being assaulted before security operatives intervened.

The lawmaker was later rescued and taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment, while security agencies restored calm to the community. Authorities confirmed that investigations have begun to identify those involved in the attack, warning that mob action would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Meanwhile, community leaders and civil society groups have condemned the violence, calling for peaceful and lawful ways of addressing grievances. They urged elected officials to strengthen communication with constituents, while appealing to residents to use dialogue and democratic processes to demand accountability.
