Nigeria Dominates Weightlifting at African Youth Games with Eight Gold Medals

Nigeria’s weightlifting team had a spectacular start at the 4th African Youth Games in Luanda, Angola, winning eight gold medals and one silver on the opening day of competition.

Favour Cornelius swept the 44kg category with three golds, while Esther Chidalu Ezenwa claimed three golds in the 48kg class. Chinaza Cecilia Ezenwa added two golds and a silver in the 53kg division, bringing Nigeria’s total haul to eight golds and one silver.

The impressive performance showcases Nigeria’s strength in youth weightlifting and sets a strong tone for the rest of the tournament.
