Awgu, Enugu State, 19 December 2025 – Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, was among dignitaries who attended the burial ceremony of the late Ezinne (Mrs) Eunice Nwaugwu Ibe, held at the family event arena in Isu-Awaa, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Late Ezinne Eunice Ibe, who passed away at the age of 90, was the mother of Emperor Chris Baywood Ibe, President and CEO of Baywood Integrated Group. The late matriarch was remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and a pillar of wisdom and discipline in her community. Her son, a renowned business magnate, philanthropist, and social activist with interests across oil and gas, engineering, procurement, and construction, paid tribute to her exemplary life.
In his condolence letter, Governor Otti expressed profound sorrow at her passing, describing her life as a reflection of strong family values and godly virtues. “Until her death, she was a caring mother to her children and grandchildren, and remained a beacon of hope and strength to her family and loved ones. Her love for humanity, piety, and selfless contributions to society will forever be cherished,” the Governor stated.
While acknowledging that words may not fully console the bereaved, Dr. Otti urged the family to find comfort in the knowledge that she lived a long, impactful life, faithfully served her generation, and has now found rest from the trials of this world. He expressed the hope that she would reunite with her family and loved ones on resurrection morning.
The burial ceremony drew dignitaries from across various sectors, all gathered to honor the life and legacy of the late Ezinne Eunice Ibe.
