A blaze erupted on the fourth floor of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) headquarters in Abuja early Saturday. Emergency crews from the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service arrived quickly and managed to contain the flames before they could spread to other parts of the building. Fortunately, no one was injured, though several offices on the affected floor sustained damage.

Investigators suspect an electrical fault may have sparked the fire. In response, FIRS has pledged to review its safety procedures and upgrade fire‑prevention measures to avoid a repeat incident. The agency also thanked the fire service and staff for their swift action that prevented further loss.

The incident is not expected to disrupt tax operations significantly, but officials are monitoring the situation closely.
