The Abia State Police Command announced a significant breakthrough in its anti‑trafficking operations, saying officers have detained several suspects and rescued more than twenty children and infants who were being moved illegally across state lines. The raids covered locations in Abia, Lagos, Anambra, Ebonyi and neighboring states, underscoring the regional scope of the syndicate.

According to police, the breakthrough followed intelligence that a trafficking ring was using covert routes to transfer the minors. The rescued children are now receiving medical care and support while authorities work to identify their families and arrange reunifications.

Investigators say the operation is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle the network, and further arrests are expected as the probe continues. The command urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity that could indicate child trafficking.

The police praised the cooperation of other security agencies and community members whose assistance helped bring the operation to a successful conclusion, reaffirming their commitment to protecting vulnerable citizens.
