The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has clarified reports regarding the recall of Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour in France, confirming that the affected product is foreign and not registered for sale in Nigeria.

The recall in France was prompted by undeclared allergens, including milk and eggs, which could pose risks to individuals with allergies or intolerances. NAFDAC emphasized that this product has no regulatory approval in Nigeria and does not originate from locally produced Indomie.

Indomie noodles are on the Federal Government’s Import Prohibition List, making it illegal to import them into Nigeria. This restriction greatly reduces the likelihood of the recalled French product entering the country through official channels.

As a precaution, NAFDAC has intensified nationwide monitoring, directing zonal directors and state coordinators to remove any suspicious products within their jurisdictions. The Agency’s Ports Inspection Directorate has also been placed on high alert to prevent attempts to import the recalled noodles.

NAFDAC reassured the public that all Indomie and other approved noodle brands sold in Nigeria are locally produced, comply with strict regulatory standards, and meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements to protect consumer health.

Consumers are advised to remain vigilant, avoid unregistered food products, and report any suspected distribution of the recalled French product to the nearest NAFDAC office or via the Agency’s toll-free line, 0800-162-3322, or official e-reporting platforms.

The statement was signed by NAFDAC’s Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, reaffirming the Agency’s commitment to public health and food safety in Nigeria.
