The Armed Forces of Nigeria, in collaboration with the United States, have successfully carried out precision air and ground operations targeting foreign ISIS-linked elements in Sokoto State, located in Nigeria’s Northwest region. The joint operation focused on dismantling terrorist networks responsible for regional instability and cross-border attacks.
Military sources confirmed that intelligence-led strikes targeted key hideouts and logistical hubs used by the insurgents, significantly degrading their operational capacity in the area. Officials emphasized that the mission aimed to protect local communities and secure strategic locations vulnerable to terrorist activities.
The U.S. military provided technical support, including intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities, ensuring the strikes were precise and minimized civilian risks. Nigerian forces led ground operations to follow up on the airstrikes, securing liberated areas and detaining suspected militants.
Authorities have reiterated that continued collaboration between Nigeria and international partners is crucial in countering terrorism in the region. Residents of Sokoto expressed cautious optimism, noting that enhanced security measures could bring much-needed stability to the area.
The Nigerian Armed Forces pledged to maintain vigilance and sustain joint operations with allies to prevent the resurgence of extremist groups, signaling a robust approach to national and regional security.
