The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has assured Nigerians that it will not betray public trust or repeat the disappointments associated with the 2015 “change” agenda if elected to power in 2027.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said Nigerians have high expectations of the ADC, stressing that the party is determined to offer responsible and result-driven leadership should it unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general elections.

He noted that the country is still grappling with the consequences of what he described as “monumental failures” of governance under the ruling APC, which took over from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 following the election of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

Dismissing claims that the ADC coalition has lost momentum, Abdullahi maintained that the party is focused on strategic planning rather than political theatrics.

“There is nothing like loss of momentum. We understand the massive expectations of Nigerians, and we do not want to repeat the mistakes of the past. Winning elections goes beyond street noise,” he said.

He added that the APC’s failure to deliver on its “change” promise created public distrust in politics, insisting that the ADC is working diligently to restore hope by building solid structures for transparent governance, unity, and shared prosperity.

Abdullahi also revealed that the party will soon unveil comprehensive policy alternatives to address current economic challenges, including a review of key decisions such as naira flotation and the removal of fuel subsidy.

On the party’s presidential ticket for 2027, he explained that the ADC will conduct a transparent and inclusive selection process, with no preferred candidates or hidden agenda. According to him, the party’s leadership, led by Senator David Mark, has assured aspirants of a level playing field.

He cautioned that if the 2027 elections fail to reflect the genuine will of the people, voter apathy, especially among youths, could deepen, worsening public disillusionment with democracy.

Abdullahi affirmed that the ADC is committed to rebuilding confidence in Nigeria’s political system and empowering citizens, particularly young people, to participate actively in national development.
