Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has dismissed the influence of social media attacks on electoral outcomes, insisting that real political contests are decided at the polling units, not online.
Speaking on the build-up to the 2027 Abia State governorship election, Kalu noted that while critics are free to insult him on social media platforms, such actions hold little weight when it comes to actual voting.
According to him, elections are won through grassroots engagement and the confidence of voters, not through online abuse or digital propaganda. He emphasized that political relevance is measured by acceptance among the people and performance on election day.
Kalu’s remarks come amid growing political conversations and speculations surrounding the 2027 governorship race in Abia State, as key actors begin to position themselves ahead of the polls.
