Kebbi State Orders Schools to Resume After Security-Related Closure

The Kebbi State Government has announced the reopening of all primary and secondary schools across the state, following a temporary closure due to security concerns and terrorist attacks.

Both public and private schools are affected, with classes scheduled to resume for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic year on Monday, January 5, 2026. During the first week, schools will focus on completing first-term examinations, while normal teaching and learning will resume fully on January 12, 2026.

The government has called on school authorities, teachers, parents, and students to ensure a smooth return and adhere strictly to the resumption timetable. Administrators are also expected to take steps to provide a safe learning environment amid lingering security challenges.

The schools had been shut following violent attacks, including the abduction of students at Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, which prompted widespread concern for student safety. The decision to reopen reflects the government’s commitment to restoring normalcy in education while continuing to address security issues in the state.
