The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has commenced an electronic membership registration exercise in line with the directive of the party’s national leadership, signalling a move towards digital data management and improved member engagement.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo officially launched the exercise on Monday and was among the first to complete the electronic registration. The programme will be implemented across all 21 local government areas of the state.

Former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, also completed his registration at his Agasa Ward in Okene Local Government Area, alongside party leaders, grassroots members, and the state APC chairman, Abdullahi Bello.

Speaking after his registration, the former governor described the e-registration as a timely innovation that would enhance internal party organisation and strengthen communication between the leadership and members. He noted that the APC remains an inclusive party and encouraged supporters to fully participate.

Bello also called on party members to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the ongoing reforms are targeted at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable economic growth. He urged members to remain patient, acknowledging that meaningful development often comes with short-term challenges.

He explained that the electronic registration, which requires the National Identification Number (NIN), would help the party build a more reliable membership database and enable direct communication, while also ensuring that members benefit more transparently from government programmes.

State APC chairman Abdullahi Bello said the exercise would be extended to all wards and local councils after the initial phase involving key stakeholders, appealing for cooperation from members to ensure success at the grassroots.

Party officials said the transition to electronic registration is part of wider efforts to modernise APC processes ahead of future political engagements. The launch was attended by party executives, local government chairmen, ward leaders, and numerous supporters from Okene and neighbouring communities, with the party promising further sensitisation to ensure widespread participation across the state.
