Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has assured that the 2026 budget recently signed into law will be implemented faithfully, with strict adherence to its objectives, transparency, and accountability across all sectors of the state.

Speaking during the New Year prayer session with public servants at the Governor’s Office in Akure, Aiyedatiwa described the budget as central to sustaining Ondo’s development momentum, adding that its provisions were carefully designed to positively impact every sector.

He charged ministries, departments, and agencies to commence implementation immediately, stressing that the expectations of residents must be met through timely execution of programmes and projects. He further urged public servants and political appointees to prioritise the collective interest of the state, while calling on citizens to support government policies and remain optimistic about the new year.

Highlighting achievements recorded in the past year, the governor listed the construction and rehabilitation of 190 kilometres of roads, renovation and construction of 280 classrooms across primary, secondary, and technical schools, and perimeter fencing of many school premises. He added that over 112 healthcare centres earlier awarded for renovation and construction were now nearing completion, while the solar lighting project, which began in Akure, is being extended to all local government areas.

Aiyedatiwa also disclosed ongoing engagements on the Ondo Deep Sea Port following licence revalidation, as well as discussions with development partners on establishing a refinery and petrochemical facilities in the Free Trade Zone. Efforts, he said, are also underway to revive moribund industries including Ifon Ceramic Industry and Okitipupa Oil Mill, alongside new industrial initiatives in the Ore axis.

Reassuring workers of continued support, the governor reaffirmed the policy of regular promotions, prompt salaries, gradual recruitment to fill critical manpower gaps, and sustained payment of outstanding gratuities.

Head of Service, Bayo Philip, commended the administration for stabilising the civil service, massive recruitment, pension reforms, improved workers’ welfare, and consistent industrial harmony.

Delivering a message of exhortation, Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Most Rev. Jude Arogundade, urged leaders and senior civil servants to uphold integrity, sacrifice, and purposeful leadership, ensuring government resources are administered for the common good.
