The Inspector‑General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved a major redeployment within the Nigeria Police Force, assigning the newly promoted Deputy Inspector‑General of Police (DIG) Mohammed Usaini Gumel and 17 Commissioners of Police to strategic departments, commands, and formations nationwide.

The redeployments aim to strengthen operational capacity, improve leadership effectiveness, boost public safety, and enhance service delivery across the country.

Under the new postings, DIG Gumel will lead the Force Intelligence Department (FID), responsible for intelligence gathering and coordination. Several Commissioners of Police have also been moved to key roles, including state commands and specialized units.

The IGP has urged the deployed senior officers to leverage their experience and uphold professionalism, integrity, and strict adherence to the rule of law in executing their duties.

This deployment follows recent promotions within the police leadership and is part of ongoing reforms aimed at building a more effective and responsive policing system in Nigeria.
