Eziudo Community Celebrates Federal Government’s Endorsement of Oji Ezinihitte Cultural Festival

Residents and leaders of Eziudo ancient town in Imo State have jubilantly celebrated the Federal Government’s formal endorsement of the 2026 Oji Ezinihitte cultural festival, a long‑standing tradition that showcases the region’s rich heritage and cultural pride.

The annual festival, which traditionally takes place on the first day of January across Ezinihitte communities, featured a vibrant display of cultural performances, including traditional dances and ceremonies that highlight the area’s history and customs.

The community’s joy followed the official recognition of the festival by the Federal Government through the National Council of Arts and Culture, marking the first time the event has received such national backing since its inception in 1954.

Local leaders, including the President General of the Eziudo Central Development Union, praised the collective efforts of town unions, traditional rulers, and community members for promoting cultural unity and preserving traditions.

The event drew notable guests from various sectors, including political figures, traditional rulers, entertainers, and residents from across the region, all joining in the festivities that combined heritage with modern expressions of community pride.

Organisers hope the endorsement will further elevate the festival’s profile, foster cultural tourism, and preserve the community’s ancestral legacy for future generations.
