Prominent political figures from Abia State have publicly declared their full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signaling a major realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Former Abia State governors and senators, Orji Uzor Kalu and Theodore Ahamefule Orji, alongside Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiru Onyejeocha, made their position clear during a political gathering where they pledged loyalty to the president and the All Progressives Congress (APC). Chanting solidarity songs, including the refrain “On your mandate we shall stand,” the leaders affirmed their commitment to strengthening the APC’s presence in the state.
The trio vowed to mobilize political structures across Abia to unseat the current administration led by Governor Alex Otti and return the state to APC control in 2027. They described their move as a strategic effort to align Abia more closely with the federal government and attract greater development opportunities for the state.
According to them, supporting President Tinubu’s leadership and policies is key to repositioning Abia politically and economically. They called on party faithful and supporters to begin grassroots mobilization, stressing unity and discipline within the party as essential to achieving their goal.
The declaration has intensified political tension in Abia State, setting the stage for a keenly contested battle as parties begin early maneuvering ahead of the next election cycle.
