Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has advised Nigerians to be vigilant as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to intensify. He warned voters not to be deceived by politicians making promises that are unrealistic and impossible to fulfil.
Speaking during an interfaith prayer session in Ibadan, the governor described the coming year as a crucial period in the build-up to the elections. He urged citizens to carefully assess political messages and focus on leaders with proven records rather than lofty campaign pledges.
Makinde reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, noting that his government has prioritised workers’ welfare through regular payment of salaries and settlement of promotion arrears. He said such achievements should serve as a standard for those seeking public office.
The governor also stressed the importance of security, calling on residents to support government efforts by remaining alert and reporting suspicious activities. According to him, ensuring the safety of lives and property requires collective responsibility.
He expressed confidence that the progress recorded in Oyo State would be sustained beyond his tenure, urging citizens to remain united and prayerful as the political season approaches.
