LIRS Warns: Lagos Employers Must Submit 2025 Tax Returns by January 31

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has reminded all employers of the January 31, 2026 deadline to file their annual tax returns for the 2025 financial year.

The LIRS stressed that companies must submit detailed information on salaries paid to employees, as well as payments to service providers, vendors, and consultants, and ensure all due taxes for 2025 are properly remitted.

Failure to meet the filing deadline could lead to statutory sanctions and administrative penalties. The agency urged employers to make compliance part of their business routine and warned against late submissions.

To simplify the process, LIRS confirmed that tax returns must be filed electronically via the LIRS eTax platform, with manual submissions no longer accepted. Employers are also advised to ensure all employee Tax Identification Numbers (TINs) are correctly included to avoid delays.
