Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has surprised grocery merchants and roadside vendors in Uyo with a cash support initiative aimed at boosting their businesses.

The Governor made the impromptu stop at Ewet Housing Estate while returning from the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration. During the visit, he personally handed out financial assistance to traders to support their livelihoods and encourage small-scale entrepreneurship.

Earlier at the Remembrance Day event, Governor Eno had announced plans to construct 150 lock-up shops for widows of fallen heroes—100 for widows of deceased soldiers and 50 for widows of fallen police officers and other paramilitary personnel. He also assured that, upon completion of the shops, each beneficiary would receive a business take-off grant.

These gestures reflect the Governor’s strong commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and advancing social welfare across the state.
