The Kaduna State Government has rejected claims that worshippers were kidnapped during church services in parts of Southern Kaduna, describing the reports as false and misleading.
State officials and security agencies said investigations carried out in Kajuru Local Government Area found no evidence of any mass abduction. According to the authorities, security personnel visited the affected communities and confirmed that no attack or kidnapping occurred.
The government challenged those making the claims to provide verifiable details, including the identities of the alleged victims, stressing that unverified reports could heighten fear and tension among residents.
However, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the northern region maintained that armed men attacked churches in the area and abducted several worshippers, alleging that some victims managed to escape while others remain missing.
Local government officials and community leaders have also denied that any kidnapping took place, insisting that the situation in the area remains calm.
The Kaduna State Government urged the public to rely on official information from security agencies and avoid spreading rumours capable of undermining peace and security in the state.
