The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State has condemned what it described as an attempt to hijack the party’s structure and has distanced itself from reports claiming it endorsed Governor Peter Mbah for a second term.
In a statement issued by party leaders across the state’s 17 local government areas, the ADC said individuals behind the alleged endorsement are not recognised members of the party and lack the authority to speak on its behalf.
The party maintained that those involved had not formally resigned from their former political parties nor completed the required processes to become ADC members, making any declaration attributed to them invalid.
ADC leaders warned that external interference could weaken the party’s internal cohesion and compromise its independence. They stressed that decisions on alliances, endorsements, and zoning would only be taken in line with directives from the party’s national leadership.
The development reflects growing political realignments in Enugu State as parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
