Former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), was rearrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) just hours after his release from Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.

Malami, along with his wife and son, had been detained over allegations including multi-billion-naira money laundering. A Federal High Court recently granted them bail after they complied with strict conditions set by the court.

Reports indicate that as soon as Malami left the prison, DSS officers intercepted him and escorted him into a vehicle. Video footage circulating online showed him questioning the identity of the operatives before entering the car.

The EFCC stated it had no role in the re-arrest, while the DSS has not released any official statement. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the rearrest are ongoing.
