Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has said his attention remains firmly on governance and service delivery rather than political permutations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kalu made the clarification amid growing speculation linking him to future electoral ambitions. He stressed that discussions about the next election cycle should not distract elected officials from their present responsibilities to Nigerians.

According to the Deputy Speaker, his current mandate is to support legislative reforms, strengthen democratic institutions, and contribute to policies that improve the lives of citizens. He noted that effective governance, accountability, and national development must take precedence over early political calculations.

Kalu also called on political actors to focus on addressing key national challenges, including economic stability, security, and social welfare, adding that performance in office would ultimately define public trust.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working with colleagues across party lines to advance legislation that promotes inclusive growth and strengthens Nigeria’s democracy.
