The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed its decision to withdraw the lawsuit it filed against the Nigeria Police Force over the sealing of its national secretariat in Abuja.
The party said the move was prompted by a lack of confidence in the Federal High Court handling the matter, alleging that the court had shown signs of bias in its rulings.
According to the PDP, it lawfully filed a notice to discontinue the suit in line with court rules, which allow a claimant to withdraw a case within a stipulated period after the defence has been entered. However, the party expressed concern that the court dismissed the case rather than striking it out, a decision it described as improper and prejudicial.
The PDP stated that the legal action was part of efforts to challenge police involvement in an internal leadership dispute that led to the closure of its national headquarters. The party insisted that the police action amounted to interference in its internal affairs.
Despite withdrawing the case, the PDP said it remains committed to pursuing lawful means to protect its rights and resolve the ongoing leadership crisis within the party.
