Health Workers’ Strike Gains Momentum as Federal Workers Forum Threatens Nationwide Action

The Federal Workers Forum (FWF) has declared its full support for the ongoing strike by Nigerian health workers, warning that the situation could escalate into a total national shutdown if the Federal Government fails to address their demands.

In a statement issued by its leadership, the forum aligned itself with the ultimatum given by organised labour to the government, describing the action as necessary to force meaningful engagement. The group accused authorities of persistent neglect of health workers’ welfare, saying unresolved grievances and poor working conditions continue to undermine the country’s healthcare system.

FWF noted that health workers play a critical role in national stability and public safety, stressing that their demands deserve urgent attention. It warned that failure to resolve the dispute could further weaken public hospitals and put lives at risk.

The forum also indicated that federal workers across other sectors may join the industrial action in solidarity if the government does not take immediate steps to resolve the crisis, insisting that collective action remains the only option left to protect workers’ rights and public services.
