The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather alert as dust particles remain suspended in the air across many parts of the country, advising the public to take precautions due to the dusty conditions.

NiMet’s latest weather outlook noted that the dusty haze is expected to bring hazy and sunny skies from Monday to Wednesday, with reduced visibility in some regions. The agency urged persons with asthma and other respiratory health issues to be especially cautious of the current weather and limit exposure where possible.

In addition, NiMet encouraged people to stay updated with weather reports, drive carefully if rain occurs, and for airline operators to obtain specific forecasts for flight planning. Forecasts also include chances of isolated thunderstorms and light rains in parts of the south later in the day.

Officials say the advisory is part of efforts to help communities manage health and travel challenges linked to the dusty weather.
