Former Kenyan cricket star Steve Tikolo has resigned as head coach of the Nigeria men’s senior team and high‑performance manager of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, ending a three-year spell that significantly boosted the country’s cricket profile.

Appointed in 2022, Tikolo led Nigeria to victories in regional competitions, including the West Africa Trophies in 2023 and 2025. Under his guidance, the team also gained experience competing in ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers, improving Nigeria’s presence on the international stage.

Tikolo said personal commitments at home influenced his decision to step down. He departs as Nigeria’s longest-serving foreign cricket coach, leaving behind a legacy of development and growth in the sport.
