Dangote Refinery Adjusts Operations Amid Key Unit Downtime

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has begun processing lighter grades of crude oil to maintain operations while its Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracker (RFCC) — a major unit used in gasoline production remains offline.

Industry analysts say using lighter crude, which is easier to refine, helps feed other essential units and supports continued output of gasoline and other products despite the RFCC being unavailable.

While this approach has aided operational stability, the refinery’s overall throughput remains limited until the RFCC is restarted. Importing gasoline blending components has also helped maintain supply levels amid internal constraints.

Refinery officials and market watchers expect the RFCC to return to service in the coming weeks, which could allow a gradual increase in processing capacity and output.
